Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council Youth Scholarship Application
All applications must be postmarked or received no later than March 1, 2013
THE PROGRAM
The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council offers a scholarship program to assist graduating high school seniors who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs.
This scholarship program is administered by a Scholarship Selection Committee made up of directors from the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council and the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants to the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council Youth Scholarship must be –
- A resident of Minnesota
- From a family who is active in agriculture
- Graduating from high school in the spring of 2013
- Must be active in both agriculture and community
- Must be pursuing an education in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural animal nutrition, large animal vet or food science related program

AWARDS
Up to four (4) awards of $1,000 each will be granted. Awards are not renewable. Awards are for undergraduate study only.
APPLICATION
Interested students must complete the application online. Mail a copy of the following to the address below:
- Current, complete official transcript of grades
- Letter of recommendation from a community member (non-relative)
- Resume detailing relevant experience, education and activities
- Short 500 word or less essay that will indicate how your education will benefit the future of soybeans.
Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, be complete as possible. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Applications Must Be Postmarked By March 1, 2012.

A scholarship that does not contain all required components will be discarded and not considered.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated in the application, and an outside appraisal.
Selection of recipients is made by the Scholarship Selection Committee. All applicants agree to accept the decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee as final.
Applicants will be notified at their school scholarship banquet. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
MSR&PC processes scholarship payments to recipients after completion of their first semester or quarter of college. MSR&PC requires recipients to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in college. Scholarship recipients must submit their official college transcripts upon completion of their first semester or quarter. Transcript must indicate major/field of study and GPA. (You will need to request an official transcript from the college.) Once MSR&PC has received those records, the full scholarship amount will be sent to the recipient’s permanent address or the school indicated.
