Welcome to Minnesota Soybean
Welcome to Minnesota Soybean! We're very proud to tell you that Minnesota's soybean farmers not only feed the world, they also grow a crop that is used to make innovative "green" products that help protect the environment and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Minnesota's soybean farmers are also knowledgeable, respectful stewards of the land they live and raise their families on. They are business men and women who continually strive to adopt new technologies and practices that will protect and preserve Minnesota's treasured natural resources, while producing a safe and abundant food supply. Collectively known as Minnesota Soybean, the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) and the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) are two very distinct and different organizations that work together toward a common goal - to increase the profitability of Minnesota's soybean farmers.

Seeing China for Themselves
Thirty-one people boarded an airplane early March 27th for a once in a lifetime trip to China as part of the MSR&PC International Marketing committee’s See for Yourself program. China is one of Minnesota’s biggest customers with about one third of Minnesota’s soybeans bound for China. As the Chinese economy has strengthened, a growing middle class is resulting in an increased demand for meat and protein, creating opportunities for American agricultural exports. Minnesota and American soybean farmers have worked for nearly 30 years to cultivate trade relations with China. The See for Yourself trip is designed to give farmers a first-hand look at how those investments are working.
The group features farmers and several spouses, one Minnesota Soybean staffer and one media representative. The trip includes stops at a soybean crushing facility, aquaculture operation, grocery store, shipping port and more. The visit starts in Shanghai, then moves to Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
Participating farmers include: Donald Buesing of Granite Falls; Aaron Kluis from Chandler; Steve Prokosch of Redwood Falls; Shawn andBecky Feikema from Luverne; Alan Bryce of Glenwood; Hallock farmer Darrel Johnson and wife Jody; Charles and Karen Erickson of Alden; Todd Wentzel from Murdock; Mike Singlestad from Waseca; Stevan Helmstetter from Roosevelt; Robert Kluver of Northfield; Kevin Capistran from Crookston; Jeffrey and Mary Olson of Madison; Patrick Klaers of Arlington; Bruce andWendy Mathiowetz of New Prague; Myron Oftedahl from Lester Prairie; Doug Toreen from Bird Island; Joel and Teresa Schreurs from Tyler; Paul Simonsen of Fairfax, Earl and Lynette Ziegler of Good Thunder; John andLuAnn Guse of Mapleton.
Minnesota Soybean Director of Marketing Programs Sam Ziegler will be leading the group. Farm broadcaster Tom Rothman of the Minnesota Farm Network is taking part in the trip and will be filing reports from the trip. He will also produce a 15 minute special to be aired once the group has returned. Minnesota Soybean staff will also be updating the website, blog and Facebook pages with information from the trip.
The group leaves Tuesday, March 25 and returns April 5th.
