2008 FARM BILL ACTION ALERT!

Please contact Minnesota 's U.S. Senators and your elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives to urge support for passage of the 2008 Farm Bill. Both the House and Senate are expected to vote on final passage of the bill Wednesday or Thursday.

Agriculture Secretary Schafer has announced that President Bush will veto the bill, so getting veto-proof margins in both the House and Senate is critical.  We ask that you contact your Congressional delegation today or tomorrow.  Failure to override a veto will result in reverting to the permanent agriculture legislation dating back to 1949.  This would be a train wreck, as soybeans would have no farm program safety net and there would be no support program for biodiesel.
